What's New With HRFCC The
Board of Directors for Hampton Roads Families with Children from China met on Thursday, August 12, 2010 to discuss plans for
the coming months. We are looking forward to exciting events like the 5th Annual Mid-Autumn Moon Festival at Town Point
Park, the HRFCC Moon Fest and our Chinese New Year Celebration. We
are seeking help with the fall edition of the HRFCC newsletter China Tapestry. If you have event pictures, adoption
experience information, or a great adoption community story you'd like to share with the rest of the HRFCC community, please
contact HRFCC Communications Director Carl Peake.
We are also looking for volunteers to assist in the planning of the
HRFCC Chinese New Year celebration in February. We want this year's event to be an extraordinary success. The
first meeting of the Chinese New Year celebration planning committee will take place mid-October. If you are interested
in serving on the planning committee or assisting with crafts at the event, please contact Nikki Camhout or Chuck Ellard.
"Wo
Ai Ni Mommy" The PBS documentary "Wo Ai Ni Mommy"
is available online from September 1 - November 30, 2010. The program follows the adoption of 8-year-old Chinese orphan
Fang Sui Yong (Faith Sadowsky) by a family in New York. Check out the program's official Web site for details, which includes reactions from people who have previewed the documentary and comments from Donna Sadowsky, Faith's
adoptive mother. Several HRFCC members have shared their emotional responses just from viewing the trailer online, so
this is one you might want to make time for. Our thanks to HRFCC member Jeanne Jacobs for bringing this program to our
attention.
